Doves & Corvids

Doves & Corvids

‘Doves & Corvids’ -a poem describing my mind processing time, people, love & life. Bipolar minds are difficult to navigate for all parties

Who am I? I do not know,

A permanent answer is impossible to show.

“Who was I?” is the way to go,

Because I can only respond to the past below.

Your question was present,

But when I answer it, it’s in the past is what I meant.

I forget who I am and have to recollect,

And who I want to be, sometimes I neglect.

So, who I am doesn’t properly reflect,

In the rushed words that I quickly said.

And then I become dark as night,

The corvids black wings fly around my mind.

I’m in your past now, suspended in ice,

The present chills cut my nerves as sharp as a knife.

But, don’t we all only feel the past?

Even hopes and dreams were made someday before last.

Isn’t the world just a memory?

Just like you and like me?

Here we can be whatever we want to be,

As long as you learn to be you and I learn to be me.

A heavenly infinity I am beginning to see,

Full of endless hopes and possibilities.

Pure as snow and just as white,

As beautiful as flocks of doves in full flight.

Beckoning in the holy sunlight,

And mending broken hearts until they feel right.

That’s where I sit in our Earthly life,

It’s beautiful, even when I am just getting by.

“Here we can be whatever we want to be,
As long as you learn to be you and I learn to be me.” I love these lines so much.
The balance: there’s always beauty even in the darkness, to find.
