Where I Belong

Where I Belong

Where I Belong – a poem annotating a thought cycle my mind gets stuck in quite often, maybe it’s my bipolar, maybe it’s part of being human

When life feels like walking the valley of the shadow of death,

I find these strange switches in my head.

And I don’t know what they do yet,

For a moment I remember, then I forget.

I fumble in the darkness holding an idea,

It would be obvious, but my brain can’t see clear.

My mind frantically pushes buttons, so tortuously,

Something I realise, from which I have never been free.

The skin, the uniform,

The reaction, the bond.

Feeling safe is when a connection is formed,

Some how I am everywhere here, where I belong.
